Alright, Lisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed? I outlined a contemporary romance that I loved when I first started writing. I poured everything I had into the novel. I wrote the story for a year without allowing anyone to provide feedback. A few published author friends offered to critique the story and writing when I was done. https://canvasrebel.com/meet-lisa-heartman/ |

Images Arizona caught up with Heartman - who also enjoys watching movies, listening to music, baking, crafting and traveling - to ask the author a few questions about "High Heels and Handguns," the latest selection in its summer book club.
From where did you receive your inspiration for this book? The story about Kate Howard, the heroine in the series, came to me in a dream. I was writing a contemporary romance at the time and having trouble making the characters feel whole or natural. https://imagesarizona.com/high-heels-and-handguns/ |

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Heartman.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. When I started writing, I was focused on contemporary romance. It was my favorite to read so naturally I thought it would be the easiest to write. It took me two years to write my first contemporary romance. I was so proud of myself I decided to take it a step further and dip my toe into the unknown by letting others read it. http://voyagephoenix.com/interview/meet-lisa-heartman-espresso-publishing-gilbert/?fbclid=IwAR37-JGgG29gKN80LIqHUOOYK3Nb45rExAuyh06xmBAxXu7WbGWi-Dyowms |
Trendsetters AZ Foothills
A typical day in my life includes…coffee, swearing in traffic while I dictate story notes, more coffee, marketing and administrative responsibilities, even more coffee, appreciating the sunset while I rock-out to the radio in more traffic, and writing up ways to get my characters into or out of trouble.
I was born…in New Jersey into a large, loud, Italian family full of amazing role models. https://www.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com/people/authors/lisa-heartman?fbclid=IwAR2Sp-4NMSmPLpwVTf72QRzZyt1yrAGTQTE3brao_s9005DpcSfR26FglDI |

Just Romantic Suspense
I’m not really good about stepping out of my comfort zone. It’s not that I’m opposed to change or new experiences, it’s just, well, uncomfortable. But as the great Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”...
